Susan Odella is this month’s Featured Artist. She is a prolific songwriter who has just completed her 8th song with us! Listen to the before & after song here.
We are already working on a new one called “Ordinary Day” which is a great pop gem we are excited about. We asked her a few questions about how she started working with Sundown Sessions and what she has been doing with the songs we have produced for her.
How did you first get involved with Sundown Sessions?
I first got involved with Sundown Sessions when I had them remix and master an instrumental for me in November of 2015.
What were your first interactions with Sundown Sessions like?
From the first contact I made with Sundown Sessions, I was impressed by their prompt attention and professionalism. When Chris, the producer, first listened to the song I submitted to them for an opinion, I was impressed with how he got right down into the heart of my music, analyzing the song in-depth to figure out how it would best meet a more professional standard, and then rendering a detailed solution. At first, it was tough to hear the improvements I needed to make, but I also couldn’t argue with any of the points Chris made – he’s got an intuitive gift for producing music!
How was the Sundown Sessions studio process for you?
I found the process of working online from my home in Minnesota to be so simple and fun. I started with getting one song remixed and mastered, added a second to be mastered, and then I sent a very simple recording of myself singing and playing my piano. Chris made some simple suggestions for rewriting, which I was quickly able to accomplish, and this process took my song to a much higher level. After working with Chris and his studio engineers to get my song, “Fallen” recorded, I was hooked on the process. I could just sit back and wait as they found the perfect vocalist and musicians to complete my song, listening to each track as it was produced and sent to me for approval – it was amazing!
What are you doing with the music you are producing with us?
I have now sent Sundown two more songs to be produced and recorded, which will be my seventh and eighth I have sent to them. As I submit my music to agencies and publishers, I know I am pitching the best product available to me in my use of Sundown Sessions Studio. The songs that were recorded at Sundown are getting great reviews from major publishers, and I believe my music now has a very good chance of getting the publishing contract I so desire!
