Canadian platinum selling artist, Jim Cuddy, could have used any studio he wanted to record his new song, “We Walk Together”. He wanted to work with Sundown Sessions producer, Chris Shreenan-Dyck, who co-produced Jim Cuddy’s last two albums. Of those two albums, “The Light That Guides You Home” went on to win a Juno Award, and the second album, “Skyscraper Soul” was nominated, along with Chris as Engineer Of The Year.
With Jim Cuddy’s busy touring schedule, recording the single through an online recording studio seemed like the best option, and he explains why he chose Sundown Sessions. “Chris is a world-class producer, engineer, and musician. But, as important as these talents are it is Chris Shreenan-Dyck’s sensitivity to the artists he works with, his ability to draw out the best in every musician, and his uncompromising commitment to excellence that set him apart. Bringing all this expertise together in one person is rare indeed.”
Jim Cuddy sent us a demo with a vocal and an acoustic guitar, and Chris Shreenan-Dyck built the track up one instrument at a time. Chris explains the process: “Sundown Sessions has a roster of top session players who all have different talents, so I like to handpick them for a particular project. For Jim Cuddy’s country rock leaning sound, I was able to put together the perfect band for the recording.”
Once Jim Cuddy signed off on all the instrument performances, it was sent off to our award-winning mix and mastering engineers. “It turned out exactly how we all hoped”, Chris says of the final product. “Jim’s looking forward to the next one!”
